Tutorial: Wine Cork Button Stamp | The Zen of Making

Crafts and booze? What could be better?! Imbibe, then get your make on with this quick and easy wine cork button stamp tutorial.

Supplies:
* Wine cork (If you don’t drink wine, you can buy recycled corks here.)
* Button, slightly smaller than your wine cork

Tools:
* Stamp carving tool with a #1 (small v) tip
* Tailor’s awl
* Ultra fine point permanent marker

Step 1
Select a wine cork with a smooth, flat end. Clean it thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before use.

Supplies:
* Acorn block printing template PDF
* Printing block
* Block printing ink
* Cotton cloth napkins (or sew your own)

Tools:
* Linoleum cutting tool
* Sponge paintbrush
* Paper plate or paint tray
* Iron and ironing board
* Pencil
* Printer

Step 1
Print out the acorn block printing template PDF and trace over the lines of the acorn shape with a heavy pencil line. Place the template face down on the block then use your fingernail to rub the design into the block. Step 2
Use the linoleum cutting tool to carve the block using the transferred outlines as a guide.

Step 3
To prepare the napkins for printing, fold each napkin on the dotted lines pictured above and press each crease with an iron. When you’re finished, the creases should create a visible grid that will help you with your print placement.

Supplies:
* Napkin Block Printing Template PDF
* Unbleached cotton muslin, four 16" x 16" squares
* Permanent marker, fine tip
* Fabric marker, water or air soluble
* Fabric paint, navy blue
* Foam sheet
* Amazing GOOP craft adhesive
* Thread, red
* Cork tile
* Scrap paper for ironing

Tools:
* Craft knife
* Quilting ruler
* Sponge paintbrush
* Iron and ironing board
* Sewing machine or serger (a needle and thread is okay too)
* Printer

Step 1
Print the Napkin Block Printing Template PDF, then use a craft knife to carefully cut out the center of each shape using the printed lines as a guide.

Step 2
Place the cut out template on top of a foam sheet, then use a fine tip marker to trace the shapes onto the foam.

Step 3
Use a craft knife to cut out the foam shapes, then mount them on the cork tile with craft adhesive.

Allow the glue to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
