A pussyhat-themed Tiny Cranky Haley just didn’t seem right without my mischievous Simon Paws. Because, oh, the many joys of curious cats in the craft studio!
Speaking of making my drawings move: I’m definitely getting better at digital illustration, which makes creating animated GIFs like this one a whole lot easier. Hooray for practice-makes-perfect, and hooray for technology! So, you can probably look forward to seeing even more of these fancy moving Tiny Cranky Haley drawings in the future, because, turns out, they’re especially fun to make when I’m in serious procrastination mode.
A quick note for the uninitiated: In case you’re not already familiar, Tiny Cranky Haley is a mini version of me that I draw sometimes, mostly when I’m annoyed, but also when I’m delighted, or when the cat has done something weird. My husband is an Emmy Award-winning designer. Which means, among other things, that there’s a giant gold statue in our apartment. And, when one happens to be a craft blogger who lives in an apartment that contains a giant gold statue, certain ideas begin to take shape in one’s mind. (They can’t help it.) Ideas like, “Y’know what that Emmy needs? Obviously, it needs a tiny pussyhat. Like, now.”
And so, dear readers, I did the only reasonable thing. I made the Emmy a pussyhat.
I think you’ll agree that, in this situation, there was truly nothing else to be done. Needs must, and all of that. So I pulled out the needles and some leftover sock yarn and got to work. (Not too bad for eyeballing a pattern and guessing about gauge!)

It would seem that a stripy Pixel Cat has taken over my worktable.
Because, if my kitties are any indication, there are very few things in this world more comfortable than lounging on a lumpy bed of WIPs. (In his defense, he did pick the cushiest project in the pile.)
So, how was your Sunday? Filled with cats, and crafts, and springtime adventures, I hope!
P.s. Before you ask, no, he’s not wearing nail polish. That stylish mani is actually a set of pink Soft Paws claw caps (his favorite color). Pretty fancy, right?
The cats have taken over the craft studio and springtime allergies have taken over my brain. (Ugh. Blooming trees sure are pretty and all, but COME ON. I’m ready to stop feeling like my face might fall off.)
Luckily, pretty much all I’m doing at the moment is cross-stitching, which requires relatively little movement and/or brain power. (Did you hear? I’m writing a cross-stitch book!) So, thus far, most screw up-related stitch removal and its accompanying creative swearing has been kept to a minimum.
Right now, I’m wrapping up a quiet Sunday and getting excited for the creative plans I have scheduled in the coming week. Tree pollen permitting, there’s a whole lot of fun in the works!
I hope you’re all getting ready to have a great week too! And, if you’re also on Team Ugh My Sinuses, try not to let those histamines get you down. xoxo
