I’m not usually a scrapbooker, but when I saw Scrapbooking Attitude printable film, I knew it had huge creative potential—even for non-paper crafters!

I wanted to see how Scrapbooking Attitude would work on fabric, especially with the added texture of embroidery, so I designed a simple needle case to keep my embroidery needles organized on the go. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make your own needle case using my free downloadable embroidery template and Scrapbooking Attitude!

Wait. What is Scrapbooking Attitude?

Scrapbooking attitude is a printable film that bonds seamlessly to textured materials (paper, fabric, etc) with heat or glue. To use it, print an image on the film, then peel the printed film away from the paper backing and apply it to your preferred medium. When applied, the film adheres to the medium, taking on its texture. You can think of the process as lamination, but with a printable film instead of clear plastic. Supplies:
* Scrapbooking Attitude
* Needle Case Graphic Embroidery Template PDF
* Needle Case Scrapbooking Attitude Template PDF
* Linen embroidery fabric, one 3½" x 4" rectangle
* White wool felt, one 3½" x 4" rectangle
* Navy blue wool felt, one 3" x 1¼" rectangle
* Embroidery Needle
* Embroidery floss, one yard each of red and gray
* Velcro fastener, one 1" x ¼" hook side and 1 ¼"one 1" x ¼" loop side
* Fusible web
* Water or air soluble fabric marker, fine tip
* Amazing GOOP craft adhesive
* Scissors
* Iron and ironing board
* Pressing cloth or piece of white scrap fabric
* Sewing machine (Optional. Hand sewing is also fine.)
* Ink jet printer

Step 1
Print the Needle Case Graphic Embroidery Template and cut it out, using the outer line as your guide.

Step 2
Using a fabric marker, trace the needle design onto linen embroidery fabric.

Step 3
Following the outline you made in step 2, embroider the design onto the fabric with your favorite stitch. (I used backstitch.)

Step 4
When the design has been stitched, use fusible web to attach the felt rectangle to the back of the embroidered linen.

Step 5
Print the Needle Case Scrapbooking Attitude Template onto the glossy side of the Scrapbooking Attitude film, then cut the film down to size using the printed outline as a guide.

Step 6
Peel the printed film away from the paper backing and place it glossy (printed) side down on top of the embroidered linen side of the needle case. Cover the film with a pressing cloth, then use an iron to bond the film to the fabric per the instructions in the Scrapbooking Attitude package.

Next, cut out a second 3½" x 4" rectangle of Scrapbooking Attitude, then follow the same procedure to bond the film to the felt side of the needle case. (This will give both sides of the case a laminated texture.)

Allow the heated surfaces to cool completely.

Step 7
Use a sewing machine to stitch around the outer edge of the needle case with an ⅛" seam allowance.

Step 8
Apply Amazing GOOP craft adhesive to the top and bottom edges of the navy blue rectangle, then glue it in place on the inside of the needle case. (This is where your needles will be stored.) Next, use the adhesive to attach the Velcro closure pieces to opposite sides of the needle case as shown.

Allow the adhesive to dry completely.

You’re done! Now, load your new case up with needles and toss it into your project bag for easy stitching on the go!
